Music at the Festival 2024
MUSIC AT THE FESTIVAL
The Woods Hole Film Festival is pleased to welcome Kim Moberg as the 2024 Music Curator.
Kim Moberg, an award-winning singer/songwriter/guitarist, was born in Juneau, Alaska to a mother of Alaskan Native Tlingit descent and a US Coast Guard veteran father from Kansas. Her childhood was marked by frequent relocations due to her father’s military career, but music remained a constant. Influenced by her classical pianist and guitarist mother, Kim developed a love for various musical genres, including traditional and contemporary jazz, Broadway tunes, and Folk music. Her father’s passion for country music introduced her to legends like Johnny Cash and Hank Williams, shaping her unique Folk/Americana sound.
At 14, Kim began playing acoustic guitar, teaching herself to strum and finger-pick despite her debilitating stage fright. After nearly two decades in the financial industry, she pursued her dream of performing professionally in 2014, writing her first song. Collaborating with Grammy-nominated producer Jon Evans, she released “Above Ground” (2017) and “Up Around The Bend” (2020), both receiving critical acclaim. Their latest project, “The Seven Fires Prophecy: Suite for Humanity” (2023), reflects Kim’s desire to share Indigenous teachings through music. Her rich vocals, described as “a blend of honey and whiskey,” guide listeners through stories of melancholy, heartbreak, healing, and social consciousness.
