The Woods Hole Film Festival is one of the longest-running film festivals in New England. For 8 days in July and August it offers locals, summer residents, and visitors alike the opportunity to see some of the best independent film and filmmakers in the world. The Festival has been recognized by industry media and filmmakers as one of the top film festivals in the world, garnering 25 Coolest Festivals in the World and Top 50 Festivals Worth The Entry Fee recognition from MovieMaker Magazine, and this year one of the Top 10 Massachusetts Summer Events of 2017 by the editors of Yankee Magazine.
 
Woods Hole is also a destination location for summer visitors and scientific researchers, making for one of the most dynamic and sophisticated audiences around. Publications such as Smithsonian Magazine list Woods Hole as one of the Best Small Towns To Visit. Attendance has grown year after year, topping at 5,000+ attendees last year.
 
The Festival also presents screening events on a monthly basis throughout the year in collaboration with other local businesses and venues and therefore have a consistent presence in the community. Our social media outreach and engagement are strong. We send regular e-mail updates to our list of 5,000 at least twice monthly. Our personal interaction with audiences and filmmakers is one of the qualities that sets us apart from many other festivals.
