The Woods Hole Film Festival is hiring event staff for the 2024 Woods Hole Film Festival, taking place Saturday, July 27 through Saturday, August 3, 2024.

Available Positions:

Box Office Staff: 4 positions. Box Office Staff will work in the Box Office prior to and during the Festival.  Will work under the supervision of the Operations and Box Office Manager. Duties include selling tickets and festival merchandise and assisting with other duties as assigned. Must have prior event and customer service experience. Must have lodging and transportation and be available to work both day and evening shifts.  Duration July 10 – August 5, 2023.

Venue and Event Staff: 6 positions. Venue and Event Staff will work in the screening and event venues assisting Venue and Event managers with duties and tasks as assigned. Must have prior event and customer service experience. Must have lodging and transportation and must be available to work both day and evening shifts. Duration July 24 – August 5, 2023.

Assistant to the Festival Director

Spend summer on Cape Cod by working as the Assistant to the Festival Director at the Woods Hole Film Festival, the longest running independent film festival on Cape Cod and the Islands. Become a part of the energetic and creative community located in the heart of a village world renown for ocean science; enjoy the beautiful area and amazing beaches, meet independent filmmakers who come from around the world, and enjoy the great music, workshops, panel discussions and other Festival events as an Assistant to the Festival Director at the Woods Hole Film Festival, designated as one of the Top 100 Festivals by MovieMaker Magazine and Film Freeway!

The Woods Hole Film Festival, Inc., is a non-profit organization now in its 33rd year. The Woods Hole Film Festival is an eight-day showcase of independent film featuring daily screenings, workshops, panel discussions, special events, parties, awards ceremony and more. Our programs and events are designed for filmmakers and non-filmmakers alike.

DESCRIPTION: The Assistant to the Festival Director will work on a variety of tasks and projects as assigned by the Festival Director, Associate Director or Chief of Staff. The work may include assisting in all areas of presenting and managing the 33rd Woods Hole Film Festival. Some work may be done partly on a remote basis under the supervision of the Festival Director, but applicants should be available in person for the majority of the work schedule no later than July 1, 2024. Ideal applicant should be a dependable, committed fast learner who is able to work independently and see projects through to completion and deliver them on time.

DURATION: (Approximately) May 15 – August 30, 2024.

REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must have a personal laptop computer and cell phone available for use, as well as transportation and housing. Festival will assist with parking.

Job Description/Scope of Work

Under the direction and supervision of the Festival Director and working with the Associate Festival Director and Chief of Staff, the Assistant will work on a variety of tasks and projects, as assigned, including all festival logistics, communications, technical operations, media management (print traffic), including, but not limited to:

  • Box Office: On-site and remote assistance
  • Merchandise Coordination
  • Festival Office Administration
  • Filmmaker Relations
  • Special Event Planning and coordination
  • Assist with implementation of social media plan
  • Assist with implementation of community outreach plan
  • Log received film media and downloads into database
  • Assist with equipment inventory and test equipment before festival
  • Help set up venues for screenings, panels, and other festival events
  • Learn Elevent ticketing system back office functions and Airtable
  • Help organize and maintain festival database info regarding films’ and filmmakers’ social media accounts; jury and press links; upload invitation links; photos, posters, and other images; and all other necessary information.
  • Help monitor print traffic and identify missing files and other assets.
  • Quality control film information
  • Quality control ticketing information
  • Assist with data management and communications with filmmakers regarding attendance at festival and festival events.
  • Other duties as assigned.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE: Applicants should be proficient in all aspects of event planning for the Festival and must be dependable and a quick learner.

DATES AND HOURS: This temporary position is a combination of in person and remote from approximately May 15 – August 30, 2024. Hours approximately 30/40 week (weekly hours increase closer to festival). Festival office hours typically 10 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday and some weekend hours during festival preparation weeks. Shortly before and during the festival, hours will vary, and daily schedules will change based on festival needs.

COMPENSATION: $2500 per month.

LOCATION: In-person, Woods Hole, MA. The festival is located in the beautiful seaside village of Woods Hole, Massachusetts. Festival does not provide housing or transportation. Finding summer housing can be a challenge in Woods Hole and Falmouth, so be sure to start this process as early as possible.

Festival Production Assistant

DESCRIPTION: The Festival Production Assistant will work on a variety of tasks and projects as assigned by the Festival Director, Associate Director or Chief of Staff. The work may include assisting in all areas of presenting and managing the 33rd Woods Hole Film Festival. Applicants should be available in person for the majority of the schedule. Ideal applicant should be a dependable, committed fast learner who is able to work independently and see projects through to completion and deliver them on time. Must be able to lift and carry equipment up to approximately 25 pounds.

DURATION: Temporary position (Approximately) June 17 – August 12, 2024.

REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must have a personal laptop computer and cell phone available for use, as well as transportation and housing. Festival will assist with parking.
