Master Class: Tasha van Zandt

Eyewitness Storytelling • Filmmaker In Residence Tasha Van Zandt will offer a case study of her feature documentary AFTER ANTARCTICA with a focus on telling a story as expansive as climate change through the journey of a single individual – explorer Will Steger.

Workshop: Beyond Stereo – Exploring Immersive Mixing

With the growing number of movie theaters around the country and world adapting Dolby Atmos screening rooms, the film industry as a whole has been migrating their workflows and deliverables to accommodate this new delivery format. In this workshop, we will explore what is Dolby Atmos, how it differs from traditional surround sound, what is needed to bring your project
to the Atmos experience, and if you really need it. Join Jay Sheehan, Woods Hole Film Festival Board member and consultant and owner of Garrett Audio, as he presents this workshop on navigating Dolby Atmos. Plus he’ll examine what the emerging filmmakers of today need to consider about adopting the workflow.

Panel: From Pole to Pole

Explorer Will Steger, Filmmakers Tasha Van Zandt (After Antarctica), Holly Morris (Exposure), Kathy Kasic (The Lake at the Bottom of the World) and WHOI Polar scientist Sarah Das will discuss the process of communicating climate change through documentary film. After Antarctica, Exposure and The Lake at the Bottom of the World will screen as part of the Woods Hole Film Festival line up. The panel is presented by the Yawkey Foundation as part of WHOI’s summer series DISPATCHES FROM AN OCEAN PLANET. The panel is free, but a ticket is required.
