A leaf sheep (Costasiella kuroshimae) is a tiny, adorable species of sea slug—or sacoglossan sea slug—that looks remarkably like a cartoon sheep or a leaf. Found in shallow tropical waters near Japan, Indonesia, and the Philippines, these creatures are famous for being one of the few animals in the world that can perform photosynthesis.

Loving Karma

High in the foothills of the Indian Himalayas, a former monk has built a home for children the world has cast aside. At Jhamtse Gatsal, “The Garden of Love and Compassion,” Lobsang Phuntsok and his growing family test a radical belief: that even the deepest wounds can be transformed through community, patience, and love.
