2014 Music at the Festival

The Woods Hole Film Festival has a long tradition of incorporating music into the film festival to make it a great festival experience, and this year is no different.

Opening Night, Saturday, July 26th kicks off with The Winding Stream, a documentary about the Carter/Cash family and we’ve got the music to match.

Both before and after screening of the film THE WINDING STREAM by Beth Harrington on Saturday, July 26th, traditional and modern renditions of Carter Family songs will be performed by Wayworn Travelers, an aggregation of Boston-area roots musicians who share a deep and genuine love of The Carter Family. Wayworn Travelers’ various members have performed with Howard ‘Louie Bluie’ Armstrong, Chris Smither, Tarbox Ramblers, Morphine, Michael Hurley, Miss Tess, Jethro Burns, Jim Kweskin, Guy Davis and others, at venues as diverse as Lincoln Center, The Country Music Hall Of Fame, The Boston Folk Festival, and The New York City Blues Festival, garnering praise from the New York Times, Boston Magazine, The Boston Music Awards and more along the way.

Friday, August 1st the Festival ramps it up with the uptempo sounds of The Spampinato Brothers

Cournoyer, (drums), form The Spampinato Brothers Joey Spampinato, is a founding member of NRBQ, the legendary rock’n’roll band for several decades where he served as bassist, vocalist, and songwriter. Saturday, August 2nd the Festival ends with a bang after the awards are given.  6 East closes things out in style.

American Roots Music – Folk, Rock, Country

6 East was founded as an acoustic guitar duo by Todd Nickerson and Jonathan Soucy and based out of Cape Cod, Massachusetts. With their second release “Rising” the result is a polished, mature and tight sound that covers new and exciting musical ground.

Both Jonathan and Todd took up guitar and singing/songwriting in their early twenties. They were influenced along the way by music ranging from Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, Neil Young, and The Grateful Dead, The Band, John Prine and many other artists in between. In 2006, Jonathan and Todd began to write and record songs under the name 6 East, playing regularly at Cape Cod and South of Boston area venues.
